XamlParseException on startup

description

Cannot find DependencyProperty or PropertyInfo for property named 'Effect'. Property names are case sensitive. Error at object 'System.Windows.Controls.Border' in markup file 'Crack.NET;component/mainwindow.xaml'

This appears as "CrackNET has encountered a problem and needs to close"...

Judging from the stack trace you could at least catch this and continue. I've included it below in case it's helpful.

Oh and I did put IronPython/IronMath in the GAC.

Looking forward to getting this tool working. Let me know if I can help in debugging this error at my end.

Regards,

Drew Noakes.

Does Crack.NET require .NET 3.5SP1? I'm not runing SP1. If that's the case, it might be nice to present an appropriate error message rather than crash completely.

Hi Josh,

Is this something that you'll be releasing at some point soon? What changeset number is the current release?

Thanks.

Hi Drew,

I am not going to create a new release for this fix. Creating a release takes a lot of effort (updating web pages, blogging, etc.) so I reserve it for when big-ticket features are implemented. You can get the latest drop here: http://www.codeplex.com/cracknetproject/SourceControl/ListDownloadableCommits.aspx

Ok I see. The problem was in fact that I needed SP1. Fair enough that this isn't a fix worth releasing -- just a better error message. Thanks.
